Tasks

Reporting to the Group Head of HSE, you will work closely with the Civil Engineering Director to shape and deliver the HSE strategy. You will lead by example, promoting best practice, innovation, and continual improvement to achieve excellence in safety and environmental performance across all sites. -Deliver training, cultural campaigns, and awareness sessions to embed a proactive HSE mindset. -Develop and promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture across all projects. -Support and mentor operational teams to achieve excellence in delivery. -Chair HSE meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of strategic plans for the Civil Engineering business. -Oversee and analyse HSE performance, tracking KPIs and driving continuous improvement initiatives. -Provide multisite support, ensuring consistent implementation of the HSE management system and compliance with statutory requirements. -Work closely with clients, supply chain partners, and project teams to maintain and exceed HSE standards. -Lead investigations into incidents and accidents, producing effective recommendations to prevent recurrence. -Advise on CDM 2015 compliance and ensure alignment with company management systems.

Location: South of England – regular travel to sites required. You are a confident, knowledgeable, and approachable HSE professional with a strong background in civil engineering or construction. You combine technical expertise with practical site experience, and you can influence, engage, and inspire others to achieve high standards. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to join our Civil Engineering team. This is a key role within the business, providing both strategic and operational leadership across multiple projects. Who are MJ Church This opportunity will suit a proactive and confident HSE professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is ready to take ownership of HSE delivery within a respected and growing civil engineering business. -NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate. -CSCS Card. -GradIOSH/CMIOSH or working towards. -Minimum 5 years’ HSE experience within a similar industry. -Highways experience. -NVQ Level 5/6, Diploma or Degree qualification. -IOSH membership. -Based in the South of the UK. -Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, compliance, and best practices. -Right to Work required as Visa Sponsorship unavailable for these positions -Full UK Driving Licence. -Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively.
