Tasks
The Payroll Generalist is responsible for day-to-day Payroll functions and light Human Resource responsibilities. This includes cooperation with multiple departments to keep accurate employment and payroll records for SilMan's Team Members. -Data entry and maintenance of payroll and human resource records -This role operates in a professional office environment. The Payroll Generalist routinely utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. -Resolve employee queries, clearly communicate with team members -Verify and implement payroll deductions, elections, and garnishments -Ensure timely certification of payroll reports -Document and maintain policy and procedure updates -Support the Human Resource team, including new hire onboarding and maintenance of vacation/PTO hours -Organize daily plans and tasks -Produce quarterly and annual payroll tax reports -Produce periodic workers' compensation and union reports -Generate payroll expense, tax, and compensation reports -Complete and file payroll-related hours and earnings audits -Offer "best practice" recommendations and insights -Exercise independent initiative and drive to ensure that any requested support activities have been completed, internal and external
