The Role

Overview

Lead maintenance, automation, and facilities for a large unionized manufacturing plant

Tasks

-Foster strong relationships with union leadership; uphold consistent and respectful interpretation of collective bargaining agreements. -Oversee the preventive and predictive maintenance of all foundry, machining, and facility systems. -Manage outside contractors and vendors for facility projects, utilities maintenance, and specialized services. -Lead training and upskilling initiatives in areas such as PLC troubleshooting, robot programming, and electrical diagnostics. -Drive effective troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment failures involving control systems, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components. -Promote a safety-first culture and enforce safe work practices in all maintenance and facility-related activities. -Develop and manage departmental budgets, capital planning, and spare parts inventory strategies. -Support facility inspections, permitting, and environmental controls (e.g., air emissions, dust collection systems). -Coordinate capital projects such as furnace rebuilds, CNC equipment installation, or robotic cell integration. -Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, NEC, and other regulatory requirements. -Ensure major maintenance and facility improvement projects are delivered on-time and within budget. -Leverage CMMS to ensure effective work planning, prioritization, and performance reporting. -Direct, mentor, and manage 5 maintenance supervisors and a unionized hourly workforce of approximately 50 Team Members. -Ensure uptime of critical assets including: -Maintain performance and compliance of building systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, structural integrity, compressed air, and water treatment systems.

What You Bring

-Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation systems (PLC programming, HMI diagnostics, Ethernet/IP networks) -10+ years of maintenance/facility leadership in heavy manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a unionized setting. -Proven experience with: -Siemens automation systems and drives (TIA Portal, S7 PLCs) -Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field; equivalent hands-on experience considered. -Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PanelView HMIs) -FANUC robotic arms used in CNC loading, casting handling, or coating applications -Siemens S7/TIA Portal controls and motor drives
