The Role

Overview

Design and manage electrical systems for labs/facilities, including power, lighting, fire alarm.

Tasks

-Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work. -Provide supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications. -Work with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments and meet expectations for attendance and punctuality. -Design of electrical systems for facilities / laboratories for Government, University, and private clients. -Work in a design team environment. -Provide conceptual / detailed design and analysis for facility power distribution (600V), emergency power generation, grounding and lightning protection, lighting design, telecommunications (voice/data), fire alarm / mass notification, security, access control, and special systems.

What You Bring

-Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; both verbally and in writing -Experience with USDA, ARS, CDC and other laboratory clients. -Employment with Merrick is contingent upon completion of a pre-employment background check, MVR check, and drug screen. -Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word -Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-Accredited program -Capable of performing all of the above with minimal direction -Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and with strong attention to detail -The client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship. -Ability to travel as needed. -RCDD certification -Familiar with REVIT/AutoCAD or other design software-based drawing generation -Experience with technical codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, and IEEE. -Minimum eight (8) years of experience in facility Electrical Engineering design -Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment -Experience using electrical calculation tools is desired, including lighting and power software such as AGi32, Elum Tools, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, and EasyPower. -Ability to consistently meet deadlines, completing tasks as previously defined -This individual is expected to possess knowledge on electrical regulatory codes. -Ability to write and edit specifications
