The Role
Overview
Inspect & oversee Class 1 railway construction, manage documentation, safety and progress.

Tasks
-Provide oversight and construction inspection on Class 1 railway projects; -Maintain accurate daily diary entries to document construction progress and completion of contract documentation records; -Provide mentorship to junior staff; -Monitor that construction work is in accordance with contract documents and specifications; -Keep records of completed work for tracking bid items and material quantities for payment; -Complete daily inspections in accordance with client requirements and expectations; -Maintain daily photographic records, and videos as necessary to document construction and site activities; -Supervise and implement quality assurance acceptance and inspection of construction works; -Liaise with client representatives, as required; -Monitor and report on construction progress in relation to a project schedule, noting any delays or impacts; -Monitor the contractor’s compliance to health and safety, and environmental regulations and legislation; -Report to the Project Manager onsite activities, concerns, and non-conformances, and provide recommendations for resolution;

What You Bring
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team -Post-secondary degree/diploma in Civil Engineering and/or relevant large infrastructure construction experience. -High School diploma or equivalent -Eligibility for registration as Certified Engineering Technologist -Valid license with an acceptable driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle. -Demonstrated experience in construction and/or construction inspection of heavy civil infrastructure that may include highway, bridges, buildings or railroads -Minimum 5-10 years of construction engineering experience. -Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) -Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities -Ability and willingness to work overtime including nights, weekends and holidays to meet project schedules (expect a discussion with assigned supervisor to maintain a positive work/life balance) -A minimum of 3 years experience -Experience with GPS or Total Station Surveying considered an asset. -Ability to read and interpret construction drawings. -Experience with Autodesk's suite of products, specifically Civil 3D
