Senior CAD Designer creates detailed 2D/3D drawings for engineering projects.

Tasks

-Participate in project meetings, provide technical input, and communicate effectively across teams. -Interpret sketches, field notes, and technical data to develop accurate and professional design documents. -Maintain drawing files, revision control, and project documentation in an organized manner. -Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and other designers to produce construction documents and design deliverables. -Apply Thompson Engineering's CAD standards and assist in maintaining consistency and quality across all projects. -Create and revise detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models in accordance with project specifications and standards. -Support project planning through layout design, quantity take-offs, and coordination with multiple disciplines. -Review the work of junior designers for accuracy and provide guidance or mentorship as needed.

What You Bring

-7-10+ years of progressive experience as a CAD Designer, preferably within civil, structural, or environmental engineering. -Proficiency in CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or Revit, depending on project needs. -Ability to work in the field or outside, able to bend, stoop and climb. -Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse project teams. -Must be willing to work overtime as needed by the department needs. -Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. -Experience in mentoring or leading design teams. -Working knowledge of DOT or other public-sector design requirements. -Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or related field; equivalent work experience will be considered. -Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver quality work under deadlines. -Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction methods, and technical standards. -Must be able to operate a computer and sit for long periods of time. -Previous experience in consulting or multi-discipline engineering environment -Familiarity with BIM workflows and 3D modeling best practices.
