The Role

Overview

Manage civil cost estimating, quantity take-offs, and bid processes for projects.

Tasks

-Communicate with engineers and owners to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements -Perform quantity take-offs and aid in change order pricing -Develop or manage the preparation of civil cost models and GMP estimates for CMAR, Design Build, and Hard Bid construction projects -Review of the project documents to identify value engineering suggestions and alternative pricing -Collaborate with internal partners and engineers to help influence project design -Prepare contractual exhibits for scope of work for subcontracts, and direct information/documents to subcontractors -Participate in the internal estimate review process and assist with final assembly of estimate presentation for owner -Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors and clients, and represent McCarthy at industry events -Evaluate bids and develop scope comparison documents

What You Bring

-Self-perform civil experience (field or estimating) is strongly desired -Strong organizational and communication skills -Strong math and analytical skills with attention to detail -General technical knowledge of civil construction, with specific experience in commercial, renewable energy, and/or civil infrastructure projects is preferred but not required. -Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports -Demonstrate behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values while maintaining a "value added" approach to estimating -General knowledge of estimating software including HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, and/or On-Screen Takeoff is preferable, but not required. -Knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook -General knowledge of construction principles and processes, as well as negotiated/hard bids and GMP processes -Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering and 3-6 years of equivalent experience required
