The Role

Overview

Design and support fire protection systems for diverse building projects

Tasks

-Develop hydraulic calculations in accordance with NFPA standards, UFC 3-600-01, and project-specific criteria. -Support the design of special hazard systems (e.g., clean agent, water mist, foam, explosion control) as applicable. -Design active fire protection systems, including automatic sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps, and fire alarm/mass notification systems. -Prepare construction drawings, specifications, narratives, and Basis of Design (BOD) documents using AECOM templates and standards. -Conduct code reviews in accordance with the IBC, IFC, NFPA (13, 14, 20, 72, 2001, etc.), and UFC standards. -Review contractor submittals and RFIs, and provide construction-phase support, including field inspections and acceptance testing observation. -Participate in multi-discipline coordination meetings and collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural teams.

What You Bring

-Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. -U.S. citizenship due to the nature of the work -Familiarity with NFPA standards and the International Building and Fire Codes -Experience with Revit and AutoCAD -Valid driver’s license -Experience designing sprinkler and/or fire alarm systems
