Provision of general engineering support By utilising the specialist skills of each business unit within VolkerWessels UK, VolkerStevin are able to ensure our staff provide unrivalled resources and expertise to our clients. The role of the Senior Design Engineer is to provide engineering support at all stages of the tendering and construction process for the VolkerStevin and the VolkerStevin Specialist Businesses. Co-ordination of consultants -May involve:Providing adviceProduction of technical notes to circulate at business levelAttendance at meetings - internal and externalVisiting sitesCarrying out inspectionsLiaising with Project Teams and Consultants -Liaison between project teams and external consultantsMonitoring progressReviewing information received -Act as single point of contract for allocated projectsAwareness of project programmes within own area of responsibilityAwareness of commercial arrangements within own area of responsibility -Design and detailing of temporary and permanent works in accordance withrecognised standards and in a variety of structural formsThe production of:Design calculationsDrawings / sketchesDesign Risk AssessmentsTechnical reportsChecking of internal and external design packagesFinal approval of design deliverables prior to issue -Attend weekly resource allocation meetings and provide updates.Monitoring progress against programme -Acting as a mentor to colleagues training towards professional qualification.Contribute to continuous improvement of department
