The Role
Overview
Assist with lighting design tasks, calculations, and project documentation for WSP.

Tasks
-Prepares materials for presentations, client meetings -Assist with in-office lighting mock-ups -Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. -Support a variety of tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills. -Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation. -Complete training on assigned tasks. -Provides assistance in design, engineering or/and other technical area -Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis. -Perform basic lighting calculations -Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates. -Assists in requests for information, drafting correspondence for shop drawing reviews for construction services

What You Bring
-Demonstrated interest in lighting or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects. -Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint -Exhibits creative thinking and design oriented skills -Experience using Photoshop, InDesign, Sketchup, or other visual rendering software. -Knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, and producing technical drawings -Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus. -Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. -Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools. -Must be 18 or older. -Strong technical writing, analytical and communications skills -Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship -Learn basic principles of Architectural Lighting Design. -Actively enrolled in an accredited Lighting Design, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, Theater Production Design or related degree or related Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later. -Experience with lighting design work, or worked on design project. -Knowledge of reading construction plans. -Demonstrated interest in lighting design or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects. -Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. -Actively enrolled in an accredited Lighting Design, Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, Theater Production Design or related degree or related Masters or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later. -Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects. -Experience using lighting software such as AGI, ElumTools, or Visual.
