The Role

Overview

Manage and coordinate mechanical, electrical & general construction projects as superintendent.

Tasks

-Participates in reviewing scopes of work for bid packages -Works collaboratively with field team to ensure milestone dates are met -Works with the project team to ensure all contract documents, including logs are up to date in real time -Enforces Gilbane’s high safety standards -Partners with other Engineers, Project Managers and/or Superintendents to coordinate and distribute all project information -Participates in Schedule Updates and Pull Plans -Communicates with Trade Contractors and AE on field and QAQC related questions -Participates in stretch and flex, daily huddle, and reviews pre-task plans -Prepares and contributes to daily reports -Promotes organizational change initiatives, suggests new ideas, and continuously adapts to work within new structures and processes -Prepares change management reports, estimates and other cost report documents -Ensures status reports on RFIs, submittals and other documents are prepared and presented -Manages and performs weekly safety inspections -Assists with Time and Materials (T&M) process -Reviews contractors' startup documents (safety startup submittals, contract compliance, etc.) -May be required to assist with tasks typically assigned to Project Manager (Pencil copy reviews) -Conducts and manages quality control activities; ensures activities are documented properly and corrective action occurs, when necessary -Provides input and suggestions for trade contractor weekly meetings -Works with Gilbane Project Manager for trade contractor responsibilities throughout project

What You Bring

-Understanding of general requirements financial forecasting -2-5 years of experience on commercial/industrial construction projects in a superintendent role OR someone with strong mechanical/ electrical construction/ service background with demonstrated leadership accumen -Strong technical and communication skills -Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing needs -Proficient in Microsoft Office -Ability to collaborate on a daily basis with the project team -Knowledge of suite of construction software tools, including scheduling software -Experience and proficiency in multiple divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control -Excellent organizational skills -Strong knowledge and appreciation of construction safety processes and ability to enforce the project safety plan -Construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction -Ability to create an environment where “safety first” is the culture and all trades people work with an incident and injury free attitude -Ability to work in a team environment -Or equivalent combination of education and experience -Understands workforce needs, ensures clean jobsite
