Lead mechanical design, project delivery, and business development for complex building projects.
The Associate Principal will serve as both a technical and business leader — managing large-scale projects, developing new client relationships, guiding staff development, and helping shape the long-term strategy for the mechanical engineering practice. -Develop and maintain strong client relationships across the New York metropolitan area -Manage full project lifecycles, from concept through construction administration -Contribute to business development through proposal writing, bid submissions, and contract negotiations -Mentor junior engineers and support recruitment, training, and career development initiatives -Identify staffing needs and ensure project teams are appropriately resourced -Oversee technical delivery, quality, and commercial outcomes -Lead mechanical design and coordination across a range of building types, from healthcare to mission-critical facilities -Monitor budgets, schedules, and project performance with strong financial oversight -Drive sustainability and low-carbon design strategies in alignment with firmwide goals
-LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, or ASHRAE BEMP certification -Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering -10–15 years of experience in mechanical system design for complex building projects -Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), preferably in the State of New York -Experience negotiating contracts and managing risk, quality, and technical standards -Demonstrated experience managing large-scale projects through all phases -Experience with central plant or data center design -Strong focus on sustainable and high-performance building design -Track record of successful business development and client engagement -Familiarity with New York City and state codes, permitting, and client landscape -Proven ability to mentor, lead, and build trust within multidisciplinary teams -NCEES certification
