Design, verify, and implement FPGA/SoC firmware for defense systems with multidisciplinary teams.

Tasks

Typical activities expected are architecture, requirements specification, design, verification and validation. Work will be carried out in conjunction with systems, software and hardware engineers to develop electronic systems. Projects involve using the latest industry class development tools for FPGA and system on a chip hardware technology and work is carried out to a structured firmware design process. -Conducting algorithm development and/or image-processing work -Communicating and promoting vacancies -Anticipating and providing reasonable adjustments as required -Performing advanced VHDL or SystemVerilog verification -Enhancement of firmware related processes (documenting, scripting, reporting, process automation) -Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams -Design firmware using Hardware Description Languages -Ensure our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible -Implementing complex FPGA/ASIC designs using vendor-specific development tools -Developing verification testbenches and verification architectures -Work as part of firmware teams to deliver firmware projects to agreed time, cost and quality -Managing requirements using IBM Rational DOORS or similar toolset -Simulation using Mentor Graphics ModelSim/QuestaSim -Offering an interview to disabled people who meet the minimum criteria for the job -Working with high-speed interface technologies such as PCIe, Ethernet, Serial, AXI4 -Supporting any existing employee who acquires a disability or long-term health condition, enabling them to stay in work at least one activity that will make a difference for disabled people -Verify firmware using Hardware Verification Languages or Hardware Description languages

What You Bring

We are looking for energetic and driven engineers with broad expertise, however of particular interest would be candidates with (in order of priority) military, aerospace, marine or rail experience. -SC cleared without caveats -Ability and willingness to spend periods of time at Customer sites and/or integration facilities -Object-oriented design techniques -Degree level qualification in a relevant subject such as Electrical/Electronic Engineering -Ability and willingness to travel to and work on the clients Crawley site 3 days per week -Verification testbench architecture (SystemVerilog or C++) -Image processing techniques and algorithms -Experience in the same/similar role delivering complex designs -A lower qualification would be acceptable for example HNC/HND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieu -Self-starters, with an ability to manage their own workload and meet agreed objectives, whilst also contributing to the development and delivery of wider operational goals -Individuals confident in their ability to solve complex problems, asks challenging questions to develop their understanding, and suggests new ideas to further our product offering and increase our added value -Advanced VHDL verification -Algorithm development using MATLAB -Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing -Vendor-specific FPGA/ASIC development tools -Digital electronic design in hardware development languages: VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog -UK sole National
