Senior Accountant

Overview

Manages general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting for a distribution company.

Tasks

-Generate all reconciliations in a timely, accurate and fully descriptive manner, including tying out the reconciliation with the related income statement activity; ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. -Record accounting transactions and journal entries to the general ledger to ensure the ledger accurately reflects transactions (commissions, management fees, depreciation and amortization, prepaid expenses, etc.). -Record and reconcile intercompany activity, confirming all balances no less than monthly. Coordination of intercompany activity and reconciliations. -Prepare and review travel and entertainment expenses for accuracy and budget compliance. -Assist with external audits, lender reviews, and inventory appraisals. -Prepare robust analysis of variances to budget, identifying trends and providing executive commentary. -Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, annual budget, periodic forecasts, and other internal reporting. -Identify control weaknesses and recommend improvements to accounting policies and procedures. -Prepare documentation for a variety of tax filings.

What You Bring

-General ledger accounting, account reconciliations and analysis. -Understanding of consolidation processes - including foreign operations, intercompany eliminations, and profit in ending inventory. -Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required. -Flexibility and ability to adapt to shifting organizational needs. -Advanced level skills in all Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word (Advanced), PowerPoint (Advanced)). -Solid US GAAP (Intermediate) Knowledge, Financial reporting principles (Intermediate) and practices. -Familiarity with P&L, Balance Sheet (Developing), and Cash Flow statements preparation (Developing). -Strong listening and written and oral communication skills. -Ultimate attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness. -4+ years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably in public accounting and/or in a mid to large size distribution company. -Effective team player who positively contributes to an inclusive and collaborative environment. -Strong time management, organization and planning. -Self-starter with a high level of initiative, strong work ethic and the ability to gather, organize and report information. -Experience with accounting software, such as Sage, QuickBooks, or NetSuite. -Ability to function at a high level in a global, fast-paced, and ‘continuous improvement’ environment.
