Overview

Perform fire surveys, inspections, and technical reporting for fire safety projects in UK/Ireland.

Tasks

-Updating the passive fire protection technical knowledge base -Travel to client sites for site surveys and meetings will be required on a regular basis with overnight stays likely. -Undertaking third party oversight role of fire stopping and fire compartmentation installations. -Take part in inspections for licenced premises to assist in the application for liquor licensing -Providing in-house CPD presentations when the need arises in your specialist area -Carrying out active and passive fire protection systems surveys and technical reports -Managing your own client base and exceeding client expectations -Keeping updated with the latest industry guidance, product literature and sharing this knowledge with the wider organisation as part of continuous improvement. -Undertaking visual only fire doors surveys. -Review contractor responses to items raised and respond accordingly until closed out. -Produce technical reports in a timely manner, to highlight any issues apparent on site relating to the construction process. -Attend site throughout the construction process to inspect and identify any issues with the construction related to compliance with the Fire Safety Certificate approved design, in accordance with the agreed inspection plan. -Undertaking external façade assessments to meet the requirement of the industry standard.

What You Bring

-The ability to author technical reports utilising the information obtained during the site inspection using both bespoke digital software and Microsoft Word. -Knowledge of internal passive fire protection products, fire testing regimes and the products field of application with reference to manufacturers installation details. -Experience undertaking fire compartmentation surveys is desirable but not essential for internal fire stopping installations and advising the contractor based on the relevant manufacturer's literature. -The ability to be coachable and develop your skillset further, utilising the resources and expertise within the wider team. -A general knowledge of construction methods, forms of construction, fire performance of external wall materials and associated cavity barriers installations. -Experience carrying out intrusive external wall surveys is desirable but not essential on a wide range of new and existing buildings such as high-rise residential, office buildings, large retail complexes and historic buildings. -Compliance assessment and understanding of the main Irish fire safety legislation and standards applied to different building occupancies, such as Technical Guidance Document B (TGDB), BS 9991, BS9999 and associated suite of Irish / British Standards etc. -Knowledge of refurbishment schemes and managing/advising Contractors on-site. -A basic knowledge of the fire risk assessment process is desirable but not essential and a general appreciation of general risk/hazards within the built environment. -Full Irish driving licence and access to your own private vehicle. -Basic understanding of fire safety design and guidance for different building types. -The ability to undertake works independently and manage your own workload as required. -Degree educated in Building Surveying or other similar discipline or equivalent site based experience.
