Tasks
-Control house layouts and panel arrangements -Develop and manage scope of work, schedules, cost estimates, and project milestones -Ensure compliance with client standards and applicable codes (IEEE, NESC, NEC, ANSI, NEMA, IEC) -Mentor junior engineers and designers, promoting knowledge transfer and technical growth -Perform site visits for scoping, construction coordination, and post-construction inspections -Lead the design of substation systems including: -Serve as a technical liaison to clients, vendors, and field staff throughout project lifecycle -Foster strong communication across engineering teams, project managers, and external stakeholders -Act as Project Engineer Lead, managing design teams and coordination with internal disciplines (Civil, Structural, P&C, physical, communications, settings) -Conduct and review engineering studies including: -Support construction with RFI responses, design clarifications, and field troubleshooting -Perform and lead QA/QC reviews on engineering deliverables -Oversee development of technical deliverables: specifications, calculations, reports, construction drawings, and procurement packages

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in substation design, project engineering, and engineering team coordination – playing a critical role in delivering safe, innovative, and cost-effective solutions for utility, renewable, and industrial clients. While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. We are seeking a highly experienced and technically driven Senior Substation Project Engineer to lead and support the engineering and design of medium to high-voltage substations (13kV–500kV). This is a key technical leadership role, where you'll take ownership of electrical and physical substation design, oversee project execution, and collaborate closely with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. -AC/DC schematics and wiring diagrams -Ability to lead technical teams and collaborate across disciplines -Grounding and lightning protection studies -AC/DC station service and battery sizing -8+ years of experience in substation design engineering, with demonstrated leadership on utility-scale projects -Lightning protection analysis -Strong communication, technical writing, and documentation skills -Experience with relay settings, SCADA integration, and protection philosophies -Professional Engineer (PE) license required -Experience supporting substation construction, commissioning, or field troubleshooting -Previous experience working with utilities, EPCs, or regional ISOs -Grounding, short-circuit, load flow, and voltage drop -Knowledge of 3D substation modeling or BIM processes is a plus -Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or equivalent design software -Familiarity with power system modeling and analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, CYME, SKM) -Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
