Tasks
As part of our Pipe Asset Engineering team, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering design services across a variety of capital programs and projects. You’ll collaborate with project managers, asset planners, operations, and construction teams to ensure our designs meet rigorous standards and serve the long-term needs of our communities. -Cross-Functional CollaborationCoordinate with internal teams across engineering, operations, and planning to ensure cross-functional accountability and integration.Provide technical support to Engineering Design Services and other teams as needed.Support wastewater design initiatives on an as-needed basis. -Professional ConductDemonstrate a high-performance, safety-focused, accountable, and innovative approach to work.Maintain a collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset, ensuring EPCOR remains easy to do business with. -Coordinating internal feedback and delivering clear, timely responses -Collaborating with project managers and design teams to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery -Reviewing and updating Volume 4 (Water) Design and Construction Standards, working closely with subject matter experts and the private development community to keep standards current and aligned with EPCOR’s goals. -Evaluating external submissions (e.g., from the City of Edmonton) by: Assessing potential impacts on water and wastewater infrastructureEnsuring compliance with EPCOR’s latest standardsCoordinating internal feedback and delivering clear, timely responses -Define and deliver short- to medium-term (3–12 month) engineering objectives that support the business plan. -Coordinate with internal teams across engineering, operations, and planning to ensure cross-functional accountability and integration. -Monitor and report on performance metrics to ensure optimal outcomes. -Ensuring compliance with EPCOR’s latest standards -Contribute to the development and execution of Pipe Asset Engineering plans, ensuring alignment with EPCOR’s broader strategy. -Identify budget requirements to support successful implementation of assigned design programs. -Assessing potential impacts on water and wastewater infrastructure -Maintain a collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset, ensuring EPCOR remains easy to do business with. -Strategic & Technical LeadershipContribute to the development and execution of Pipe Asset Engineering plans, ensuring alignment with EPCOR’s broader strategy.Define and deliver short- to medium-term (3–12 month) engineering objectives that support the business plan.Identify budget requirements to support successful implementation of assigned design programs.Monitor and report on performance metrics to ensure optimal outcomes. -Acting as the Owner’s Engineer for Asset Protection and Land Agreements, ensuring EPCOR’s infrastructure is safeguarded when third-party work is happening nearby. -Support wastewater design initiatives on an as-needed basis. -Provide technical support to Engineering Design Services and other teams as needed. -Overseeing and authenticating in-house water pipe asset designs, including delegating design tasks to engineering technologists

What You Bring
-Ability to analyze technical data and produce clear, concise reports. -The referral must be documented during the recruitment process and prior to the candidate being hired. -To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required. -Exceptional verbal and written communication skills — able to convey complex information clearly and logically. -Experience working with GIS platforms. -If you are considered for the position, clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks is required. Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment. -Familiarity with hydraulic modelling. -Knowledge of water infrastructure design and construction standards. -Strong knowledge of pressurized pipe system design and construction. -Prior infractions for unsafe driving behaviours will be evaluated and considered for non-selection regardless of current demerits on file. -Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external stakeholders. -Minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering and construction of municipal water or pipeline infrastructure. -Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA. -Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution. -Comfortable learning and using engineering software and digital tools. -Skilled in conflict resolution and navigating diverse perspectives. -Demonstrates accountability, innovation, and a safety-first mindset in all aspects of work. -Solid understanding of engineering principles and practices related to the design, planning, and construction of water systems. -Demonstrate a high-performance, safety-focused, accountable, and innovative approach to work. -The referred candidate must mention the referring employee’s name at the time of application. -A requirement of working for EPCOR is that you are at least 18 years of age, successfully attained a high school diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education) and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
