The Role

Overview

Live-in maintenance technician handling building upkeep and resident services.

Tasks

-Promote a positive and welcoming environment for all residents. -Perform scheduled preventative maintenance as directed. -Complete minor repairs (e.g., clogged sinks, lighting, toilet repairs, flood cleanup). -Follow occupational health and safety protocols; participate in on-call emergency responses. -Maintain operational records and documentation according to standard procedures. -Conduct outdoor and indoor cleaning duties (e.g., litter pickup, sweeping, snow removal, pressure washing). -Respond to unscheduled maintenance work orders. -Ensure resident satisfaction through ongoing communication and follow-up. -Address resident service requests within 24 hours. -Maintain and monitor critical building systems (e.g., HVAC, boilers, electrical panels, elevators, sprinklers, emergency generators). -Uphold and report breaches of property rules and regulations. -Care for and water outdoor planters and flowerbeds seasonally. -Accompany and coordinate with contractors, providing updates to the management team. -Conduct pre-inspections and facilitate turnover of vacant suites.

What You Bring

-Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including after-hours emergency callouts and month-end transitions. -Technical Skills: Knowledge of building maintenance systems. Comfort using smartphones, two-way radios, and basic tech platforms. -Communication: Strong verbal and written English communication skills; professional and respectful interaction with residents and colleagues. -Education: High school diploma required; post-secondary education is an asset. -Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain flexible under pressure. -Police Clearance – A criminal verification check is required for employment. -Other Requirements: Basic knowledge of landlord-tenant legislation -Experience: Hands-on experience in multi-residential property management. Knowledge of WHMIS and health and safety standards.
