Tasks
-Coordinate with engineers, field staff, and document control to validate drawing accuracy -Digitize legacy paper drawings into clean, editable CAD files -Maintain revision control, following established naming, numbering, and revision protocols -Incorporate redlines and field markups with attention to detail and traceability -Bind xrefs to ensure drawing integrity and file portability across platforms -Occasional travel to client facilities may be required for field verification or coordination -Convert CAD files from MicroStation to AutoCAD formats -Perform QA/QC reviews with stakeholders to ensure compliance with drawing standards -Update and revise existing CAD drawings using AutoCAD in line with current design standards

What You Bring
Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Drafting Technician for a 6-month contract position with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for updating and finalizing facility drawings for existing infrastructure. This role requires proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation, with experience managing x-refs, digitizing legacy documents, and producing accurate as-built or record drawings based on redlines and field markups. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical accuracy, organizational skills, and a solid understanding of industry-standard drafting and drawing management practices. -Minimum 3 years of professional drafting experience in industrial, utility, or infrastructure projects -Experience with MicroStation and cross-platform CAD conversion -Familiarity with mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering disciplines is an asset -Effective communication skills for interaction with engineers, field technicians, and project stakeholders -Ability to interpret field sketches, markups, and engineering notes with strong attention to detail -Skilled in digitizing paper drawings and integrating legacy data into digital systems -Proficiency in AutoCAD (2018 or later) and xref management -Experience producing final as-built or record drawings -Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of handling multiple stakeholders -Post-secondary diploma or certificate in CAD/Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, or related field -Experience with brownfield or retrofit projects in operational facilities
