Tasks

-Detail-Oriented: Conduct thorough analyses and evaluations and implement timely decisions and recommendations -Maintain database of backflow prevention assemblies used in AW water systems as well as in applicable industrial and commercial water systems -Provides training to personnel in the proper management of established cross connection/backflow protection programs. Educates & trains contractors, regulators, local officials and customers with regards to the cross connection/backflow protection program -Perform technical inspections and field surveys, testing and maintenance of cross connection control devices and backflow assemblies to ensure protection of water supply systems; maintains and distributes listing of all certified backflow device inspector -Collaborative: Seek input and coordinate with staff -Substantial time may be spent in the field visiting customers, answering questions on backflow device installation, and performing site inspections -Assists Supervisor or program lead in coordinating the local enforcement of the cross-connection control program to ensure compliance with regulations, company tariffs, and the American Water cross connection best operating procedure (BOP)

What You Bring

-Local and overnight travel to districts may be required -Associate's degree or higher is preferred with an emphasis in mechanical science -ASSE Backflow Testing and Repair Certifications, preferred but not required -Good to excellent working knowledge of all Federal, State and local requirements for Cross Connection and Backflow Prevention regulations, guidance or statutes -High School Diploma or equivalent required -Three to five years experience in water production and transmission -Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills -Independent Worker: Manage time across multiple projects and deadlines -Technical knowledge on the functioning of backflow prevention devices and plumbing systems -Technical Proficiency: Good working knowledge of computer programs, databases, and software -Organizational Skills: Demonstrated organizational and administrative abilities -Analytical Skills: Good analytical and problem-solving skills -Valid driver license
