Laborer/Operator

Overview

Operate equipment, perform general labor and follow safety procedures in a plant.

Tasks

-Operate under direction of plant supervision -Obtain, use and maintain assigned Tool Kit -You are responsible for reporting any dust emissions as well as all fluid spills or leaks -You are responsible for ensuring all tools that you use get put away -Follow lockout procedures -Ensure that all guards are in place in the immediate work area -Know, Understand and follow Plant Lockout procedures -Assist with non-mechanical duties such as screen installation -Assist plant personnel when needed (i.e. short staffed on production) -Immediately report any unsafe conditions, practices or accident, injury, near miss disputes or concerns and/or other circumstances -Make sure work area is safe and free of debris -Obtain, use and maintain PPE

What You Bring

-Should have a high school diploma or equivalent -To obtain directives from Shift Supervisor Safely and proficiently operate various types of equipment involving shifting gears. Ability to work of equipment as well doing general labor. Experience with running loaders, dozers, trucks, backhoe -Should have a minimum of 6 months of experience as a Labourer -Experience handling mini equipment like a telehandler, backhoe -Previous experience of working on a steel mill is an asset
