The Role

Overview

Design and manage railroad signal and grade crossing projects for various railroads.

Tasks

-Collaborate with railroad companies, highway authorities, and other key stakeholders to drive project success. -Undertake additional responsibilities as needed to support the Project Manager and ensure project excellence. -Implementation and verification testing of vital application logic for project success. -Involvement in QA/QC oversight for project success. -Conduct detailed analyses and investigations, documenting findings and generating comprehensive reports. -Handle communications related to project issues and maintain regular updates on project progress and technical challenges. -Stay updated with relevant design standards and codes, applying them effectively across projects. -Manage project scope and timelines, focusing on efficient design processes. -Uphold quality control standards and ensure timely completion of tasks within schedule constraints.

What You Bring

-Ability to work overtime and travel (up to 5% of time) as-needed to meet deadlines or visit field sites. -Professional verbal and written communication skills for interaction with clients and project stakeholders. -Computer-aided design (CAD) understanding to direct project submittal formatting and plotting to client requirements. -Proficiency in Microsoft suite products (Excel, Teams, Outlook, Word). -Ability to earn EIT and PE license required, if not already certified/licensed. -Bachelor’s in Electrical, Electronic, Computer or related engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university. -Experience with railroad programmable logic controllers, such as ElectrologIXS, Microlok, XP4, and Grade Crossing Predictors, will be a distinguishing factor. -4+ years of railroad signal design experience. -Active involvement in design for Class 1, short line & regional, commuter, and/or transit railroads. -Proficiency in CAD programs, such as MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, in direct use and managing CAD drafting.
