The Role

Overview

Conduct and analyze material tests in SGH’s lab, supporting engineering projects.

Tasks

-Collect, record, conduct basic analysis of test data, and notify supervisor when unusual data is recognized -Assists senior staff in management of sample in storage -Perform and monitor tests associated with glass, cement, piping, concrete, bricks, slate, tile, coatings, steel, CFRP, plastics, insulation, roofing etc. -Responsible for receipt and logging of incoming deliveries (equipment, samples, and supplies) -Assist with concrete mixing, cutting, and polishing -Set up machines, build test frames and ensure the tests are running properly while receiving supervision and assistance -Assist with laboratory physical testing setup and component fabrication/assembly -Fabricate and/or prepare test specimens and test fixtures in lab or field using various equipment -Assist with the management of the lab equipment inventory; sign equipment in/out, gather equipment for staff, maintain equipment records, perform maintenance and calibration -Maintain high grades in their studies, interested in learning through hands-on work experience in a consulting engineering environment.

-Students should have a major in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science or similar. -Successful candidates must have strong communication abilities.
