The Role

Overview

Assist in managing construction projects: field ops, safety, docs, and financial controls.

Tasks

-Collaborate with subcontractors to assemble site-specific work plans. -Process, review, log and distribute submittals. -Assist the Site Superintendent with leading field operations. May serve as the on-site point of contact for client, subcontractors, vendors and field personnel. -Document existing conditions with notes, photographs, video and ensure information is uploaded to project management software. -Validate completed work prior to Quality Control inspections to ensure substantial completion. -Coordinate with Safety Program Manager to create and communicate site safety plan. -Assist in development of Scope of Work for subcontractors. -Coordinate site walks, quality inspections, etc. with McKinstry project team, subcontractors, Quality Control, and client as applicable. -Draft subcontract and purchasing agreements. -Review and substantiates subcontractor billing. -Coordinate equipment procurement with Construction Manager and outside vendors to order and expedite material. -Manage to ensure accuracy of change log. -Create and respond to Requests for Information (RFI). -Assist in preparation of monthly project accounting review. -Maintain as-built drawings. -Assist with client billings. -Assist with Project Controls: -Assess site safety and implement actions to prevent injury to property and personnel. -Create and publish Operations and Maintenance Manuals for client. -Oversee the scheduling and coordination of trades. -Uphold and communicate McKinstry safety standards. -Assist with documentation of Quality Control inspections and observations, and ensure deficiencies are completed in a timely manner. -Assist the Site Superintendent with verification of work progress, work completed, and ensure information is captured in the daily reports. -Maintain drawings, daily correspondence with trades, schedules, RFI logs, Submittal logs, Observation Reports, and Superintendent Daily Reports. -Maintain cost issue logs.

What You Bring

-Two (2) years of progressive project responsibilities in Project Engineer role required. -BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management or comparable degree—or equivalent work experience required. -Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Project required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred. -Obtain detailed knowledge of contract, drawings, and specification for project(s). -Knowledge of construction management, commercial building process required. -PE, LEED professional designations preferred.
