The role is pivotal in ensuring that all projects are delivered safely on time within budget and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining full statutory and contractual compliance.

The successful professional will be a key contributor/leader in the development of SPACE-IS as a Principal Contractor. You will lead and support site and project teams, ensuring operational delivery aligns with the company’s values, processes and commitment to excellence in the fit-out sector.

The H&S Manager will take responsibility for the company’s performance and compliance under the CDM Regulation 2015, overseeing all construction and fit-out projects from pre-construction through to completion.

  • Further develop and implement health & safety processes and procedures incorporating legislation changes. Align these across the organisation.
  • Drive a positive Health & Safety culture and ensure best practice is embedded across all sites.
  • Identify health & safety training requirements and oversee training matrix.
  • Undertake regular site inspections and safety audits and produce reports.
  • Support in writing and reviewing Safe Systems of Work (RAMS, lift plans, COSHH assessments etc).
  • Run ESH campaigns.
  • Conduct and managed internal audits, site inspections including supporting audits to maintain all ISO accreditation (ISO9001, 14001 & 45001).
  • Chair monthly (periodical) internal Health & Safety review meetings.
  • Represent the health and safety team at management meetings.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with client and contractor health & safety teams.
  • Support incident & near miss investigations through to conclusion – liaise with relevant authorities where appropriate.
  • Provide advice and guidance to management on all health & safety related matters within our site/project region.
  • Produce and manage the site health & safety plan, ensuring compliance with the site, AWE and industry standards and expectations.
  • Monitor works to ensure that they are carried out in accordance with the HSEQ standards required by Space Interior Systems, CDM (2015) regulations and a secure MOD environment.
  • Coach and mentor staff and sub-contractors on all health & safety related matters to create an effective safety culture.
  • Attend client meetings, site reviews, providing expert guidance on PC responsibilities and compliance.
  • Support for application and reporting for third party accreditation.

  • The nature of our work does mean individuals need to be a British Citizen who have been resident in the UK for the past 10 years to apply for Clearance.
  • CSCS – Professionally Qualified Person card.
  • Experience and working knowledge of health and safety legislation including CDM (2015) regs.
  • National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) certification or similar.
  • Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience gained within Construction Health & Safety as a Principal Contractor.
  • Security Clearance (SC) - UKSV (Vetting Service) – Previous security clearance would be advantageous.
