The Role

Overview

Design land development projects, perform calculations, drafting, and field work.

Tasks

-Perform engineering calculations or analyses. -Perform basic survey work, such as using a level to confirm elevations of existing site features. -Perform various types of engineering modeling tasks, potentially including: Hydraulic pipe sizing, pump station sizing, stormwater runoff calculations and modeling. -Interact and communicate with office staff, design team members, contractors, regulatory officials and clients. -Perform construction observation to ensure conformance to design specifications, assist in resolving issues that arise and strengthen design skills through a greater understanding of construction means and methods. -Analyze, review, and understand design guidelines, specifications, ordinances and rules and regulations associated with development and design. -Prepare quantity takeoffs and opinions of probable construction cost for various design projects. -Prepare drawings and graphics using CAD platforms and other graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. -Assist in preparing engineering reports, permit applications, bid documents and other typical written communication. -Plan and design a wide range of land development projects.

What You Bring

-Knowledge of local, state, and federal design standards. -EIT or EI Certification preferred. -Experience with design and plan production in AutoCad Civil 3D, MicroStation, or equivalent. -1-3 years of experience, required. -Ability to work independently and in team settings. -Ability to react quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
