Design and validate mechanical systems for HVDC converters and related grid hardware.

Tasks
-Ensure that solutions adopted are both technically appropriate and that GE Vernova has freedom to utilize these solutions. -Stay current with advances in system technologies to seek out new ideas and applications. -Work in a team environment with colleagues across GE Vernova including other GE Grid Solutions businesses, Advanced Research Center and partners from industry, academia, and government agencies. -Validate performance of developed solutions through simulations, lab-scale and full prototype scale testing. -Document technology and results through patent applications, technical reports, and publications. -Transfer technology to engineering teams in GE Vernova to be included in next generation products and services. -Lead diverse teams as well contribute individually at a intermediate expertise level in the development and application of advanced technology solutions to GE Vernova products and services using analytics, modeling, simulations and advanced testing methods.

What You Bring
-Proficiency in Ansys, SolidWorks, Catia, Abaqus, AutoCAD, MATLAB, Mathcad, Python or similar engineering software. -Doctorate degree in an Engineering field with advanced and demonstrated years of experience in design, development, testing and validation of mechanical system OR Master’s degree in an Engineering field with extensive hands on experience in design, development and validation of mechanical systems. -Excellent oral and written communication skills. -An exceptional background in power hardware components design (converter valves, power modules, busbars, reactors, transformers, metallic supporting structure, etc.). -Familiar with stress calculations including thermal, vibration, seismic stress analysis. -Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills. -Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. -Advanced experience in building full scale equipment or hardware prototype for testing and validation of complex physical systems including HVDC converter valves, high voltage substations equipment, generation plants, industrial plants, or transportation systems. -Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. -Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time, including international, and must comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies. -Relevant experience in designing layout of HVDC converter valve hall or metallic structure of HVDC converters. -Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. -Established project management skills -Advanced and demonstrated years of experience with mechanical design simulation tools including 3D modeling, mechanical forces and stress analysis. -Significant and demonstrated years of experience in designing the packaging layout of high power converters modules or metallic supporting structure of power converters components. -Relevant experience in HVDC systems including specifying, designing, testing or commissioning HVDC stations components including power transformers, reactors, filters, converter valves, cooling plants.
