The Role

Overview

Inspect utility poles, record attachments, and ensure safety while traveling full‑time.

Tasks

-Identify appropriate electric conductor sizes -Work independently or with a partner in the field and maintain streamlined communication with the field coordinators and with the office through detailed notes on the maps. -Record span lengths and angle bearings between two structures -Identify National Electric Safety Code (NESC) violations -Ensure work is completed efficiently and to design specifications -Utilize an insulated, telescoping, fiberglass measuring stick to record the attachment height of any hardware/conductors installed on electric poles. (Contact to energized components will be made using the insulated stick) -Read and interpret maps and construction prints to ensure accuracy, and identify discrepancies -Identify and correctly record all different attachments (utility and telecom) on electric distribution poles -Follow safety protocols and procedures at all times -Upload pictures to the designated spaces for the design team in the office -Navigate independently to new locations provided by the design team -Identify all appropriate equipment and attaching hardware on distribution poles

What You Bring

-High School diploma or GED -Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions for extended periods -Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 50+ pounds on a regular basis -Strong photography skills for field documentation -Requires standing and walking continuously throughout the day, covering approximately 5-15 miles -OSHA 10/30 Certification -Willing to work extended hours, including weekends, and travel 100% of the time -Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, multitasking ability, and strong analytical and problem solving skills -Must currently be eligible to work in the United States of America -Ability to work independently in various weather conditions and field environments. -Defensive Driving Training -Must be able to meet the physical and cognitive requirements to operate a vehicle safely, including maintaining alertness and orientation while driving -Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong interpersonal skills -Work is performed outdoors with exposure to weather including and not limited to excessive heat, excessive cold, and extreme weather conditions -Must be able to work under stressful conditions to meet deadlines and company needs -Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) -First Aid, AED, CPR Certification -Experience using compasses, range finders, and geographic data recording tools -Frequent driving over long distances in varying weather conditions -Ability to pass a drug test, background check, and Motor Vehicle Record check
