Tasks
-Identifying, promoting and implementing innovation, business efficiencies and value engineering across the project portfolio, driving continuous improvement through lessons learnt. -Ensuring best project management practice and behaviour is implemented across the project portfolio including programming, financial control, change management, reporting and project closure. -Maximising the value of the team through effective leadership and professional development of staff. -In this role you’ll be directly responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of projects, to ensure they are delivered with a strong focus on programme and budget. -Ensuring accurate capital expenditure forecasts and output projections on all portfolio projects. -You’ll be responsible for the effective team management of 4-6 direct staff and circa 12 indirect staff. -Managing a range of multi-discipline contractors and ensuring delivery of key project outputs in line with business targets. -Promoting and implementing external/internal stakeholder engagement and community liaison for your project portfolio. -Ensuring compliance with SPEN Integrated management system, including Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality management. -Responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing technical, financial, regulatory, consenting and operational risks throughout the project lifecycle.

What You Bring
-Commercial awareness of contract methodology, procurement processes and practices. -A working knowledge of health, safety & environmental legislation, including CDM. -Experience in a programme management environment of multiple projects and disciplines. -Degree qualified, preferably in an engineering field or similar with significant experience of project management. -Developed negotiation and communication skills. -Experience of project managing large scale infrastructure projects with detailed knowledge of project and programme management processes. -Experience in a line management position managing multi discipline teams. -Experience of managing a complex programme of contracts, multiple work programmes and commercial contracts. -A working knowledge of infrastructure planning and consenting requirements. -A working knowledge of the technical characteristics and workings of the Electricity Transmission System. -Working knowledge of NEC 3 / 4 contract frameworks. -Ability to devise solutions to complex problems and challenges.
