The Role

Overview

Oversee and improve health, safety, and environmental practices for construction projects.

Tasks

-Provides guidance and coaching to project teams and direct reports on audit requirements. -Oversees and conducts formal HSE inspections and audits. -Monitors work injury and ensures modified work is followed and properly documented. -Verifies that equipment and tool inspections are being conducted and documented as per the program. -Evaluates and verifies that appropriate PPE is being used on project sites. Develops specialized PPE training as required. -Develops and assists with implementation of project HSE and regulatory requirements. -Participates in the investigation process as per the incident investigation matrix and determines when external resources are required. -Identifies, evaluates, develops, and delivers project-specific HSE training. Assists with the development of project training. Assists with the development of district specific training. -Reviews project training objectives and project trend action plans. Identifies industry statistics and hazards and communicates any expected/anticipated changes to project teams. -Verifies that hazard identification tools are in place on the project(s) and evaluates areas for process improvement. -Develops and evaluates effectiveness of project emergency response plan and executes crisis communication plan for project(s).

What You Bring

-Strong communication and presentation skills on HSE topics to senior managers and projects. -Expert knowledge of OH&S and environmental legislation related to projects/area. -Strong knowledge of construction processes and terminology. -ASP certificate preferred (US). -Bachelor’s degree in OH&S or a related discipline. -9 years of experience in a related industry, with direct experience in HSE. -Strong ability to coach and mentor others. -4 years of experience in a supervisory role. -CRSP certification preferred (CDN). -Ability to coach and mentor others on HSE processes.
