Overview

Fabricate, fit, and weld steel components per specifications in a steel fabrication shop.

Tasks

-Fabricate and repair steel parts and structures using cutting, burning, and welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick). -Plan work procedures by reviewing job orders, blueprints, and instructions. -Measure and mark materials accurately for cutting, fitting, or welding. -Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a clean and organized manner. -Report faulty equipment, defective materials, or safety concerns to a supervisor promptly. -Fit, assemble, and tack weld components in preparation for final welding. -Identify and verify materials for correct size, grade, and heat numbers. -Monitor welding and fitting processes to avoid overheating, warping, or other material damage. -Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding job progress, issues, and improvements. -Operate overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment to move and position steel components. -Participate in housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe work environment. -Attend safety and continuous improvement meetings as scheduled. -Gather required tools, materials, and equipment based on job specifications. -Complete all required documentation and paperwork accurately and on time.

What You Bring

-Use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is always required. -Good communication and teamwork skills. -Basic math and measuring skills. -High school diploma or GED preferred. -Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and hand/power tools. -Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, welding symbols, and job specifications. -Strong understanding of safety procedures and commitment to following them. -5 years of experience in welding and fitting, preferably in a steel fabrication environment. -Skilled in various welding processes (MIG, Stick, Fluxcore). -Standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and working in various positions for extended periods. -Exposure to loud noises, hot surfaces, and sharp tools. -Ability to lift heavy materials and work in physically demanding environments.
