Tasks

-Participate in recruitment for staff of all levels to help grow the Geotechnical Engineering Group. -Implements staff development plans within their practice segment, including technical, management, and leadership skills. -Serve as client contact for projects managed. -Work closely with GAI leadership and other PMs to coordinate and develop the proposed scope, schedule, and fee for Geotech tasks and/or entire projects. -Develop an understanding of and marketing the services GAI performs. -Manage and mentor staff. -Promotes effective teamwork and development within the Geotechnical Engineering Group and GAI. -Build relationships with Energy, Institutional, Industrial, Manufacturing, Municipal, and Transportation clients and internal clients within GAI's Business Sectors. -Provide design, management, and technical direction and oversight associated with geotechnical components on multi-discipline design and construction projects. -Integrates these components into a complete project management plan for a complex engineering project. -Lead and manage projects primarily for Geotechnical Market, Serve as technical lead for engineering and geology tasks in the area of expertise. -Lead teams to successfully execute all assigned projects. -Receives administrative supervision with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits. -Function as a seller/doer. Identify, chase, and successfully win new business opportunities with existing and new clients. -Deliver the scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability of all projects managed. Plans and manages projects and multiple projects at one time. -Support senior management in contract negotiations with clients. -Implements effective teamwork and leadership principles into solutions for engineering problems. Determines project objectives and requirements. -Evaluates the effectiveness of leaders and teams. -Frequently oversees technical, legal, and financial issues of an entire project. -Review deliverables prior to submitting to clients. -Develop appropriate design alternatives for complex geotechnical projects that consider realistic requirements, constraints, community input, permitting, and other regulatory constraints. -Represent GAI at important functions or conferences. -Leads projects with complex features with work performed directly, or by others. -Collaborate with others within the GAI Power Generation Business Sector to develop and execute a business plan. -Work with Accounting staff to monitor and control project costs and billings to meet budgeted profit, analyze project performance data, and develop recovery plans as needed. -Win new work from both new and existing clients by building and maintaining customer relationships, monitoring future work opportunities while communicating regularly, and attending client events, professional society/industry association events. -Recommends facilities, personnel, and funds required to carry out projects. -Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key engineers, geologists, and officials. -Integrates engineering economics and risk analysis into the solutions of complex engineering problems. -Lead business development pursuits and developing statements of qualifications and proposed project scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and fees. -Integrate advanced concepts, including sustainability, to solve complex problems. -Supervises a major practice segment or several teams. -Integrates different forms of effective and persuasive communication to technical and nontechnical audiences. -Practice activities and culture. Sets priorities and reconciles directions from competing interests. -Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to the geotechnical group.

Engineering Geology or Geology, Master's Degree or Equivalent Experience Preferred -20+ years: Engineering Geology/Geotechnical Engineering/Engineering Sales experience. -Well-rounded with aspects of consulting, industry standards, and Company protocols. -Professional Geologist (P.G.) License, reciprocity (or ability to pursue licensure) in multiple states. -Willingness to learn GAI-specific project management procedures and requirements. -Demonstrated track record of external customer engagements and building and maintaining successful internal and external client relationships. -Demonstrated working knowledge of fundamental project management skills and concepts such as: developing pricing, cost budget monitoring, calculating profit, etc. -Geo-Hazard identification and successful mitigation design and implementation. -Ability to work in a team environment with staff and clients. -Strong verbal and written communication and technical writing skills. -20+ Years -Valid Driver’s License. -Demonstrates financial acumen and familiarity with legal issues related to engineering practice. -Ability to be efficient in planning and organizing workload.
