Senior Lighting Engineer

Operations is at the heart of keeping the strategic road network moving and ensuring our customers get the best possible experience when using our roads.

We address over 39,000 customer enquiries every month, plan and deliver all maintenance activities on the network, drive efficiencies and improvements across our systems and roads, and respond to incidents across 4,500 miles of motorways and major A-roads that we manage. All to make sure National Highways customers have safer, smoother, and more reliable journeys.

• Lead and coordinate the activities and resources involved in the identification and evaluation of asset data and needs in order to develop early solutions, in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria.
• Lead the development of early solutions for improvements and/or renewals, including the compiling and checking of relevant documents, evidence and options for value management, taking into account new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.
• Monitor the delivery of agreed early solutions and plans, liaising with the relevant teams to identify and/or rectify issues.
• Ensure that asset data and condition information is captured and maintained in the relevant database(s), in line with agreed standards and timescales.
• Ensure the health and safety needs and wellbeing of customers and employees are fully considered and accounted for throughout the planning and delivery of each service activity.

Requirements

Please note that you will be required to drive as part of your role, and you will need to have no more than 3 points to be considered for this position and during employment.

• Good experience in construction and delivery methods and knowledge of CDM 2015
• Degree or HND in relevant discipline, or hold the Institute of Lighting Professionals Diploma, with BS7671 Designer Certification preferred
• A Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and member of a relevant professional Body with appropriate experience
• Knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and relevant British Standards, and their application to lighting asset maintenance on the highways network
• Strong knowledge of lighting and electrical asset condition assessment, testing and analysis and degradation modelling
