Tasks

-Work with customers to write and present papers about the G&W automation solution provided to them. -Maintain positive client interactions. -Manage periodic maintenance and testing of all software systems. Perform upgrades as necessary. -Support all microgrid use cases; especially advanced use cases including islanding, reconnection and DERMS integration -Provide pre and post sales technical support to sales/marketing, production engineering, and customers for customized distribution automation solutions. -Apply advanced product knowledge of relays, programming, and communication in switchgear distribution automation applications. -Project Manage Distribution Automation projects from Quoting stage through Customer site acceptance without assistance from supervisor. -Make technical presentations to customers, clients, and/or professional peers. -Maintain and be responsible for the G&W Customer Solution Center Microgrid control room. -Manage the microgrid operational schedule to maximize the return on investment of use cases while ensuring battery is prepared to support and handle highest priority scenarios. -Relay integration and logic programming for: SEL, ABB, Hitachi, Siemens and/or GE relays -Keep up to date with industry trends by attending conferences, and training courses. -Assist Production Engineering with minor modifications as necessary for specific customer applications. -Support G&W’s Microgrid Engineer in day-to-day operations as necessary. -Develop flexible program templates and software solutions that can be combined with hardware for customizable product packages -Supplement all periodic maintenance performed by Microgrid Engineer and act as a backup. -Monitor microgrid system functionality. Troubleshoot and correct as needed. -Act as in-house expert in all control systems in the Microgrid. -Train and assist customers with installations and commissioning including on-site activities as necessary. -Provide technical assistance and training for peers and sales staff. -Act as a mentor to new Automation Engineers to ensure they become proficient with LaZer solutions and successfully assimilate into the DA team. -Manage vendor relationships, especially with engineering groups. -Manage technical relationship with key DA technology vendors -Assist with G&W switchgear automation solution proposals that include written functional description and pricing.

What You Bring

-Has 7+ years of progressive experience in Engineering design and/or development preferred. -Preferred technical knowledge: -Have the ability to function in cross-functional work teams. -Has the ability to travel overnight 25% and on weekends. -Design logic, program relays and controllers, and test systems as required for projects. -Has training and/or experience in relays and switchgear and electrical troubleshooting. -Radio Communication and Antenna Selection -Has strong industrial / utility programming understanding and skills with a strong preference for relay programming. -Possesses knowledge of MS Windows, Word, Spreadsheet and project applications is required. -Cellular Communication and Antenna Selection -Have the ability to perform event analysis for all G&W automation solutions. -Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with peers and internal and external customers. -Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. -Electromagnetics and the application of motors, transformers, and generators on the power distribution system
