The Role

Overview

Supervises material handling operations, staff, safety and efficiency in manufacturing.

Tasks

-Monitor equipment availability and coordinate resources across shifts and departments. -Direct, coach, and evaluate the material handling team. -Maintain proactive communication to anticipate and resolve material flow issues. -Manage scheduling, staffing, and workload assignments to ensure full coverage. -Supervises: Material Handling Team (forklift operators, crane operators, general laborers) -Oversee daily material handling operations, including forklift and overhead crane usage. -Monitor team adherence to OSHA and company safety standards. -Serve as the primary point of contact between material handling and other production supervisors. -Ensure timely delivery of materials to production areas to prevent delays. -Lead team meeting around safety, participate in incident investigations, and administer corrective actions as required. -Conduct training on equipment operation, safety procedures, and standard work practices. -Support continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment. -Enforce safe operating procedures for forklifts, cranes, and all handling equipment. -Identify opportunities to improve material flow efficiency and reduce bottlenecks. -Provide regular updates on material movement status and challenges.

What You Bring

-OSHA certification(s) and/or forklift/crane operator certification a plus. -Trade School completion (preferred). -Minimum of a high school education or equivalent. -Requires working in conditions of varying heat and cold and where noise levels are at or above 90 decibels. -Ability to lift 50 lbs. -Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and teams in a fast-paced environment. -Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. -Strong knowledge of forklift and overhead crane operation and safety standards. -Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. -Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push and pull throughout the shift. -Proven experience in material handling, warehouse, or manufacturing operations (supervisory experience strongly preferred).
