This is a high-impact opportunity to join the Senior Executive Leadership Team of a mission-driven organisation at the forefront of Ireland’s energy transformation. As COOAM, you will lead the secure and efficient operation of the national electricity transmission system and market, shaping the future of Ireland’s energy infrastructure and resilience. The Operations and Asset Management Office is central to the delivery of our primary role – the operation, development and enhancement of the power system and the wholesale electricity market. The Office is also responsible for the sustainable implementation of transmission system and market development to meet the future needs of all users of electricity through the growth in low carbon and renewable sources. -Define and deliver operational strategy for Ireland’s electricity transmission system, ensuring reliability, resilience, and compliance. -Oversee the operation of the All-Island Electricity Market and delivery of renewable energy and capacity auctions. -Inspire a high-performing team and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. -Build strategic partnerships with system operators across Ireland, the UK, and Europe. -Champion emergency planning and represent EirGrid in national and European energy bodies. -Lead the transformation of the power system to integrate renewables, interconnection, and digital innovation.

What You Bring
-Proven leadership in complex operational environments and strategic transformation. -A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Master’s or MBA preferred). A degree in engineering or energy systems, is desirable but not essential. -Deep expertise in power systems, market operations, and interconnection strategy. -A minimum of 15 years’ experience in energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors. -Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills at national and international levels. -Strong understanding of regulatory codes, compliance frameworks, and emergency planning.
