Senior Backend Engineer (Python)

Overview

Develop and maintain Python/Django backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.

Tasks

-Write complex SQL queries to get data from the database -Review, maintain and refactor existing code to meet the requirements for improved or new features -Design, build and maintain APIs, microservices and data pipelines -Write well-formulated, testable and readable code using appropriate software design patterns -Help in drafting of end-user manuals -Design, normalise and optimise relational databases -Work with product owners, engineering managers, user interface designers and other software engineers to write technical documents that identify software project requirements -Participate in code reviews -Write technical documentation of code, algorithms and APIs -Debug and fix bugs across our applications

What You Bring

-Optimise APIs and database queries to improve speed of execution -Passion for writing clean, modular, well-commented, readable and reusable code -Experience in managing more junior team members -Ability to think out of the box with a can-do attitude to get things done efficiently -Experience in relational database management and SQL query optimisation -Strong computer science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms and software design patterns -Ability to work UK working hours (+/- 3 hours) -Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate technical concepts in plain English -Experience in writing technical documentation. -5+ years experience (Python/Django is a plus)
