Fitter Welder (2nd Shift)

Overview

Apprentice performs fit-up, fabrication, and MIG welding of metal parts in a plant.

Tasks

-Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation. -Maintain safe work practices. -Complete motor coupling installations -Practice and promote 5S throughout facility. -Conduct technical inspections. -This position will work with supervisors and leadman to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) welding processes -Follow Operation Description Sheet (ODS) and Training Documents -Read and review blueprints and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed in environment intended for use. -Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects. -Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)and Plasma Cutter. -The use of various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal -Follow All Safety Policies and Protocols -Participate in Kaizen events. -Operate Miller Aluma Pro Mig gun. Successfully apply fit up, fabricate, and weld discipline into standard models. -Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair/rework techniques. -Planning and Organizing -Participate in training program as trainee/trainer as required. -Operate manual and semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment. -Prepare input for various management and log reports.

-Mathematical Reasoning -Welding technical school certification -Minimum of 6 months of MIG Alloy and Steel welding experience -Ability to read and understand production drawings, blueprints, work orders and other written instructions -Decision Making and Judgement -Problem Solving -Strong attention to detail -Creative and Innovative Thinking -GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) welding experience -Fitter Welder Apprentice will have the ability to apply minimum of 6 months of MIG welding experience into product. -Proven knowledge and skill in operating all metalworking machinery -The ability to scan in and out of work orders is a must -High School Diploma, GED or certifications -Standard blueprint knowledge -Time Management -Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in diverse working environments -Experience with routine maintenance operations -Able to work well under pressure -Ability to give and receive feedback effectively -Have successfully passed 2G plate welding test and 6G short arc pipe welding test within Johnson Controls - San Antonio -Excellent interpersonal and communication skills -(1+) years’ experience as a welder -Tig welding experience -Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always
