Structural Analysis Engineer

Actalent

The Role

Overview

Perform advanced structural analysis and FEA for nuclear components ensuring safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • fea simulation
  • structural analysis
  • v&v planning
  • independent review
  • design documentation
  • quality assurance

Tasks

-Use finite element analysis (FEA) simulation software, hand calculations, and engineering judgment to assess stress, deformation, degradation behavior, and lifetime mechanical performance of nuclear reactor components. -Support the assessment of systems and structures for manufacturability, assembly, and integration. -Conduct structural analysis for systems, structures, and components, including pressure vessels, piping, nuclear reactor internals, nuclear fuel, and high temperature materials such as graphite. -Plan and perform the analysis required to assess aspects of structures and components, ensuring they meet intended functions and technical specifications. -Create Verification and Validation (V&V) plans for analytical tools and support the qualification of toolsets. -Provide independent reviews and acceptance reviews of engineering deliverables and data. -Perform computations using hand calculations and analytical tools for structural, thermal, hydraulic, and other scoping calculations. -Develop design documentation, including design basis documents, technical reports, calculations, and drawings in accordance with procedures. -Perform work in accordance with quality procedures for design and configuration management.
