Metric Geo

The Role

Overview

Design engineer developing ground improvement solutions and supporting field/office teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • design calculations
  • finite element
  • ground improvement
  • design docs
  • qa/qc review
  • client support

Tasks

A Design Engineer supports the sales and operations teams in both office and field settings by developing and implementing effective ground improvement solutions. -Defend and communicate design decisions and respond to reviewer feedback. -Prepare and coordinate final design documents, drawings, and calculations. -Perform design calculations, including stability, settlement, bearing capacity, and geotechnical/structural capacity of CMCs. -Prepare project documentation such as specifications, methods, and testing submittals. -Provide timely responses to project inquiries and support field teams. -Conduct finite element modeling (e.g., Plaxis) to assess soil-structure interactions. -Review field QA/QC data and address nonconforming site conditions. -Review geotechnical reports, project specifications, and civil/structural plans to support design development. -Develop soil profiles, cross sections, and select soil parameters for design. -Analyze and select ground improvement methods that meet project requirements (e.g., settlement, bearing capacity, stability, liquefaction mitigation).
