Lead design and project management for structural systems in building projects.

Tasks

-Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds -Oversee projects through bidding, design, and construction administration phases -Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager -Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication -Provide in-process design reviews of structural system design, calculations, and specifications; Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements -Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions; Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions -Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work -Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals -Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects. Lead efforts in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives; Document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expended -Lead efforts for the analysis and design of structural systems using a variety of building materials; Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards -Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in structural engineering; Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG

What You Bring

-Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural engineering design and analysis software -Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises -Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications -3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry -Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and structures -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups -Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull -Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook -Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred -Master’s Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred -7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry -Proficiency in the use of BIM software -Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays -Engineering In Training (EIT) Certification preferred -Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment -Attention to detail and problem-solving skills -Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff -Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
