Tasks
-Provide technical mentorships for all engineers on the GRIT team (all regions). -Building and managing key relationships with internal stakeholders, and driving strategic developments and insights. -Conduct detailed QA/QC on interconnection applications and technical documentation. -Partner with the New Technology team to support the creation and execution of the New Technology strategy. -Function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on technical standards and requirements for PV projects within your assigned geographic region. -Leading comprehensive technical assessments to identify interconnection challenges in a given region and creating solutions to overcome technical hurdles. -Serve as the Nexamp representative on IEEE 1547 and NEC committees. -Participate in the technical closure of projects, including field support and witness tests. -Act as technical consulting support during negotiations and disputes regarding project timelines and costs for assigned projects. -Lead and contribute to special projects aimed at refining internal processes and setting industry standards, with a focus on innovation in interconnection means and methods. -Driving innovation and best practices across. -Offer expert technical advice during study reviews and deliver recommendations to internal teams on study outcomes. -Support technical working groups across both internally and externally. -Work alongside Project Managers on value engineering and cost optimization for projects.

What You Bring
You will be hybrid out of Boston, MA, or Chicago, IL office and will report to the VP, Grid Integration. Nexamp is seeking a Principal Interconnection Engineer with a robust technical background and proven experience in PV and Battery Storage system design and interconnection. This role is vital for providing specialized support to project managers and ensuring that our projects are not only technically sound but also optimized for cost and efficiency. -Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions. -Proficiency in Salesforce, Monday.com, Procore, AutoCAD, and other relevant project management and engineering software is required. -10+ years of experience with a utility, solar developer, Regional Transmission Organization (RTO), or consultancy, focusing on technical aspects of interconnection or interconnection-related activities and issues. Other technical degrees are acceptable, dependent on experience and technical acumen. -The number of projects actively supported at a given time should be 70-80. Willingness to travel up to 25% and support over projects in the dedicated geographic region. -Should be on track to obtain EIT upon hire if not already in possession. -Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. -Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry. -Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization. -Ability to work within the geographical scope of your region, with the possibility of cross-regional project collaboration. -Previous experience engaging and inspiring teams to excel while focusing on the growth and well-being of team members. -Professional Engineering (PE) license is an advantage. -Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization.
