Tasks

-Support the department leader with the functioning of the Estimating Department, ongoing development and maintenance of computerized estimating programs and databases. -Evaluate pre-approval budgets and construction narratives. -Prepare and oversee detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing. -Develop scope letters, bid proposals, and vendor solicitations. -Interpret technical documentation and determine estimating requirements. -Perform quantity take-offs and maintain comprehensive cost databases. -Participate in pre-bid meetings, client discussions, and design reviews. -Determine appropriate construction methods for bidding purposes. -Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and standards. -Attend pre-bid meetings, collaborations and conferences with clients and design professionals. -Support project execution teams with pricing, scope clarifications, and cost-control insights. -Analyze project plans, specifications, and RFPs to assess scope, complexity, and deliverables. -Draft scope letters, proposals and vendor solicitations. -Work alongside other estimators, project managers and project engineers on change orders and cost to complete estimates of ongoing projects. -Perform budget pricing from schematic drawings and narrative. -Assist in preparing and reviewing change orders and cost-to-complete estimates. -Promote best practices in estimating and help foster team growth and development. -Provide leadership and mentorship to junior estimators. -Analyze and interpret detailed drawings and specifications. -Partner with project managers, and clients to ensure estimates are aligned and competitive.

What You Bring

-Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed and calm manner. -Strong foundation in construction cost estimating for electrical infrastructure projects. -Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Projects). -In-depth understanding of industry practices, construction methods, and cost control strategies. -Minimum of 5 years of experience in Transmission & Distribution (T&D) estimating within the utility or electrical construction sector. -Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience. -Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) are a plus. -Must be able to interpret blueprints, drawings, and plan & profiles -Familiarity with estimating software and digital take-off tools is preferred. -Pre-qualification with specified clients.
