Tasks

-Support communication with Building Industry and Land Development (BILD), regulators and other customers for changes to the review/approval processes and design criteria related to utilities infrastructure planning to support land development/city building. -Enhance practices, standards and procedures for the work undertaken by the UIP team. -Provide oversight, coaching, mentoring and direction to staff in their interactions with interested parties including the public, customers and other City departments while linking team results with broader city building outcomes. -Contribute to committee or council reports on items pertaining to utilities infrastructure planning. -Provide oversight, direction and lead coordination on key infrastructure planning initiatives which includes Area Structure Plans (ASPs), Local Area Plans (LAPs) and capital prioritization. -Initialize, lead and manage complex projects and initiatives including preparation of business cases, stage gating, constructions agreements and technical handover to the Utilities Delivery group.

What You Bring

-Strong technical knowledge of water, sanitary and/or stormwater systems is required. -Success in this position requires demonstrated abilities in the following areas: decision making, strong communication, influencing and negotiation, critical and analytical thinking and problem solving, strategic leadership, and coaching and mentoring. -Strong project management skills will be considered an asset. -A degree in Engineering or a related field and at least 8 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work Click here for more details. -Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. -A master's degree in a related field is preferred.
