Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

Mechanical design of HVAC/fire systems using Revit/CAD, calculations, coordination, and documentation.

Tasks

-Applying EXP standards and practices (IE: training materials, OneNote, etc.) to each project. -Select and schedule equipment with limited oversight by Senior Engineers. -Develop Control Sequences. -Leads participation in voluntary training opportunities such as vendor lunch and learns. (IE: engage and ask questions) -Prepare one-line diagrams. -Code research to comply with building codes, NFPA, Energy Codes etc. -Manage and deliver drawings and revisions for various milestones. -Edit mechanical specifications to reflect project requirements with input from Senior Engineers. -Perform thermal, water supply, sand drainage load calculations. -Conceptualize Fire Protection Plans. -Work with PC, PM, and Clients to meet scheduled project milestones. -Meet with vendors to get exposure to specification requirements for different applications. -Prepare calculations for mechanical loads and equipment schedules. -Attend to project sites and construction meetings and provides technical input. -Participates in field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects. -Maintain the discipline Engineering Calcs and equipment selections for the project. -Initiates coordination of space and utility requirements with other disciplines. -Prepares and executes task relevant to the development of Mechanical Design from Concept to Construction Documents.

What You Bring

-Proficient in producing working CAD drawings and models. -Ability to comprehend drawings of other disciplines -Proficient in CAD software, REVIT preferred -Proficient in NFPA and Saudi Building Code -Professionalism: Appropriate written and verbal communications skills. -Ability to direct an EL1 or Interns on a limited basis. -Proficient in producing working Revit MEP drawings/models. -Able to design fire protection systems (wet/dry) including sizing and hydraulic calculation -Demonstrates presentation skills through internal and external technical presentations and white papers. -Holder of a degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable institution -4-8 Years of Experience in Mechanical Design in Saudi Arabia -Proficient visualizing systems in a 3D environment and utilizing clash detection software (IE: Interference Watcher). -Market Sector – Generally understands differences in design requirements or approaches between sectors. -Positively contributes to EXP and local office culture. -Exposure to work planning and tailoring design process to the available hours in work plan for a project. -Exposure to equipment room sizing and layouts during the SD phase. -Proficient in Mechanical design software -Professional presentation external and internal to office. (IE: attire, engagement, meeting prep, etc.). -Exposure and general awareness of risk management procedures to minimize EXP and client’s exposure. -Understands and properly applies existing EXP details relevant to projects. -Understand proper scope of SD, DD, CD level documents – and deliver appropriate documentation.
