Overview
Design and engineer high‑voltage transmission projects from concept to construction.

Tasks
-Perform economic conductor selection studies, lightning performance and grounding calculations/studies. -Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities. -Prepare transmission equipment: packaged equipment specifications and data sheets, Request for Qualifications (RFQ's), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations. -Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software. -Compile calculations for required electrical clearances based on NESC or other applicable codes and resources. Prepare communications of the interpretation and application of necessary NERC, FERC and regional requirements and standards. -Modify and review transmission components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers. -Performs field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients. -Perform transmission design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion. -Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers. Compiles studies and reports. Writes specifications.

What You Bring
-Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills. -Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills. -Or Bachelor of Science in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. -Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. -Minimum of 3 years of experience in transmission engineering, 5 years of experience preferred. Prior consulting experience is strongly preferred. -Successful completion (i.e.passing) FE or EIT preferred. -Applies strong knowledge of commonly used transmission engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the transmission engineering services industry. -Strong knowledge in standard civil/structural engineering techniques and procedures. -Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience. -Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite and PLS-CADD). -Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
