Tasks

Kindly send resumes and correspondence to Lori Cline, Office Manager, [email protected] -Assist with final assembly of estimate for presentation to owner. -Aid field operations with change order pricing. -Preparation and pricing of value engineering items. -Develop scopes of work for each trade to bid projects. -Maintain master subcontractor/vendor lists by trade. Solicit additional capable subcontractors. -Maintain and develop historical data for unit prices. -Call subcontractors to review scopes and verify if bidding. -Obtain labor burden and applicable insurance rates. -Provide technical assistance to project managers in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required. Assure clean handoff of estimate, bidding information, drawings, specifications, etc. to project management. -Assist Senior Estimators or Chief Estimator in the training of new estimators and field engineers. -Plans for and uses resources efficiently, always looks for ways to reduce costs, tracks assist in developing budgets -Ensures proper internal controls and maintenance/development of the organization’s historical estimating records for all entities. -Review of the construction documents for value engineering. -Perform quantity take-offs to develop in-house budgets to review against bids from subcontractors. -Work in conjunction with the bid team to prepare accurate bid proposals. -Develop general conditions for review with Senior Management and Project Management -Review of the project construction schedule and assist in preparation of the general conditions.

What You Bring

EXXCEL is looking for experienced Estimators and Conceptual Estimators to lead and assist the bidding of construction projects by preparing hard dollar estimates, proposals for new projects, as well as solicit subcontractor bids. This position will review and verify accuracy and completeness of all project documents received and also performs quantity take-offs, constructability review, and value engineering analysis for all projects received. This position will play a key role in departmental initiatives and improvements. -Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Excel, Win-Est Cost Estimating software, and Onscreen takeoff -Attention to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence, looks for improvements continuously, monitors quality levels, finds root cause of quality problems, owns/acts on quality problems -A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred), Construction Management, Building Construction or similar discipline -Ability to identify, assimilate and comprehend the critical elements if a situation to extract and interpret implications of courses of actions to attend to details of a problem -Full understanding of general contracting bidding requirements -Breaks down problems into smaller components, understands underlying issues, can simplify and process complex issues, and understands the difference between critical details and unimportant facts -Technical - demonstrate the ability to perform mathematical calculations and possess proficient data entry skills -A minimum of five (5) years of estimating experience all divisions of work in the commercial construction industry -Excellent decision making/problem solving skills -Ability to lift objects at least 50lbs -Supervisory experience is a plus as well as solid communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels of management and company personnel -Subcontractor solicitation during bidding process. -Site experience, ability to walk the job site, climb ladders, and multi floor scaffolding -Communicate well both verbally and in writing, creates accurate and punctual reports, delivers presentations, shares information and ideas well with others, has good listening skills -Knowledge of Procore and Microsoft Project scheduling is desirable -Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions and trade practices -Experience in attending pre-construction meetings
