Tasks

This team member will manage and prepare detailed cost estimates, oversee the preparation of proposal documents, and perform purchasing for awarded projects that support the strategic plan of the company. This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. -Ensure all estimating activities comply with established company policies and procedures. -Coordinate with the Business Development Manager the preparation of bid proposals and Owner presentations -Develop and document detailed notes, quantity surveys, and estimating thinking for Purchasing and Construction Operations -Maintain and update the Master Vendor list -Obtain all required bid documents and attend all pre-bid meetings -Participate in meetings with Project Management & Construction Operations -Negotiate Subcontracts & Purchase Orders -Complete buy-out log for items above -Solicit competitive proposals for all items -Develop and maintain Subcontractor and Vendor relations -Perform all duties with a manner and attitude that promotes a cooperative and respectful work environment. -Keep current with changes and trends in methods of construction and materials, construction costs, wage rates, fringes, and working rules -Prepare detailed or conceptual estimates depending on project status and needs -Solicit subcontractor & supplier participation to ensure adequate bid coverage -Develop comprehensive & complete work scopes -Negotiate Subcontract & PO Change Orders -Prepare detailed estimates for all self-perform items, including demolition, concrete, carpentry, openings, and specialty items installations -Assure all estimates are accurate and reflect all project requirements -Manage the bid process, including solicitations, quantity surveys, pricing, and bid day procedures and assignments.

What You Bring

Due to the nature of this role, local travel may be required up to 25%. Driver’s License, personal vehicle and auto insurance must remain current at levels deemed appropriate by Bandy Constructors and employees must remain in good standing for insurability purposes. Senior Estimator Successful completion of a fingerprint background check and drug screen. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some bending, stooping, and occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds is required. -Professionally communicate with Owners, Architects/Engineers, and Subcontractors with positive results; for Owners that means being viewed as someone who is a true advocate of the Owner and can be relied upon; for Architects/Engineers that means being viewed as a collaborator who is a positive influence on the team; for Subcontractors that means being viewed as a fair resource and contact in the Subcontractor’s attempt to secure new business. -Advanced organizational skills and ability to multi-task to consistently meet deadlines -Working knowledge of material unit costs, systems square foot costs, and total building square foot costs -10+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction -Have a complete understanding of all construction systems, cost estimating and budgeting, and delivery methods -B.S. / B.A. in a construction-related discipline or equivalent combination of technical training and construction experience. -Ability to idenfity and anticipate project obstacles, challenges, etc. and determine effective solutions -Proven ability to build relationships with Owners, Architects, and Subcontractors -Proficient with Estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn software programs quickly -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Ability to prepare detailed estimates for projects up to $30 million
