Overview

Inspect and support design, construction, and supervision of bridges and culverts in Alberta.

Tasks

-Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns. -Perform construction and post-construction supervision. -Construction inspection of bridge and transportation infrastructure projects. -Preparation of prequalification, tender and contract documents. -Provide technical support during the construction of major bridges as required, level of involvement will be dependent on the successful candidate’s level of experience and qualifications. -Coordinate and supervise junior staff, survey crews and material testing during construction activities. -Provide technical support during construction of standard bridges and culverts. -Coordinate and perform fabrication inspections for culvert materials and precast concrete girders. -Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards. -Supporting and preparing engineering reports such as site assessments, design & drafting details, construction cost estimates and reporting.

What You Bring

-Previous experience working in engineering consulting for Alberta Transportation. -Class A or B certification under Alberta Transportation’s Bridge Inspection and Maintenance (BIM) system. -Be physically capable of performing duties required. -Excellent analytical, problem solving and listening skills. -Ability to work independently on project assignments. -The ability to read and review engineered drawings. -Civil Engineering or Civil Technology diploma from a certified program. -Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license and must provide current drivers abstract when applying, preference will be given to candidates with a clean driving record. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to properly document and produce detailed information in an accurate and timely fashion. -Previous experience design and delivering standard bridges and bridge size culverts in Alberta. -Client management skills. -Previous experience completing fabrication inspections is an asset. -Must be willing to travel and work in a field setting away from the office. -Member in good standing with P.Tech.(Eng.)), P.ENG or (P.L.(Eng.)) designation. -Experience working with various public agencies including Municipalities, Alberta Transportation, City of Calgary, Parks Canada, etc. -Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to contribute to the Practice by being a team player. -Ability to manage small project teams. -Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with design and/or construction management of roadway and bridge related infrastructure projects; however, consideration will be given to candidates with less experience. -ACI & PCI certifications, considered an asset.
