The Role

Overview

Oversee environmental compliance and monitoring for construction projects in New Brunswick.

Tasks

-Managing internal Project permitting ( e.g. Land Disturbance Authorizations forms). -Ensure that the work complies with the regulations and laws in force as well as with the commitments resulting from environmental authorizations and permits; -Assisting in Environmental Incident reports and investigations. -Holding regular meetings with Contractor Representatives. -Managing the Projects Environmental Risk Register, Legal and Regulatory Compliance Matrix, as well as other Permit Matrices. -Contribute to the drafting of specifications for certain subcontracted work; -Responsible to track and ensure close out of corrective actions. -Conducting regular general site inspections, and other Performance Assurance activities such as independent monitoring. -Coordinating wildlife sweeps, surveys, or searches , when required . -Ensuring that th e EMP and all C-SEPPs are adhered to in accordance with the legislation and environmental goals of the project . -Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions -Reviewing and approving C ontractor – Specific E nvironmental P rotection P lan s (C-SEPP) . -Directing quality assurance of environmental monitoring performed by contractors. -Assuming role of Project Environmental Manager when appropriate . -Updating and modifying th e E nvironmental M anagement P lan (EMP) to reflect changing environmental requirements or priorities, as required . -Participate in site meetings; -Prepare and deliver , on-site environmental orientation material and other training related to the environmental obligations of contractors and workers; -Write reports of environmental non-conformities and follow up on corrective actions; -Undertaking targeted compliance inspections.

What You Bring

-Fluency in French is considered a asset, but not a requirement. -8- 10 + years of relevant experience in environmental and regulatory m anagement of construction sites; -Attention to detail and good organizational skills; -Working knowledge of English (oral and written), including communication with clients and colleagues in other provinces. -Ability to work in integrated teams across multiple disciplines; -Experience with wind energy and/or linear projects, is considered an asset. -Experience in working with engineering consulting firm s or as a contractor is an asset; -Education in engineering or environmental sciences is an asset (technical or bachelor's degree); Masters is considered an asset. -Great motivation to work both independently and as part of a team;
